IT’s Academic Technologies division is seeking responsible, self-motivated
students that demonstrate leadership, aptitude, initiative, and
assertiveness to provide assistance and training
on a wide variety of software to students, faculty, and staff in the Computer
Lab environments, which requires experience with Windows and macOS, and a
passing familiarity iOS and Android platforms. Candidates will demonstrate
excellent customer service skills and an interest in teaching, communicating,
and furthering understanding of University users as it relates to the
services we provide. Applicants would be expected to design and present
training's to students, faculty, and staff and be available to provide training
on a walk-in basis.
Applicants would provide a general understanding
of the usage and application of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, with the
ability to train faculty one-on-one, or in a group. Must demonstrate the ability
to work independently, to organize time efficiently, and to communicate
professionally with faculty, staff, and students. Applicants should be able to
take initiative to solve many of the computing problems that occur on a daily
basis. Applicants may also be asked to participate in additional projects,
which may include website maintenance and content creation, print client
maintenance, or deployment of new computer environments, depending on skill
set. May
be expected to perform administrative tasks, such as surplus forms, inventory
tracking, cleaning of computer labs and classrooms, ordering of consumables,
and tracking of visitor log ins.
Duties will include supervision in support of both the Windows and Macintosh
platforms in the labs and computer classrooms. Responsible for maintaining labs
as production environments. Troubleshooting software and hardware issues,
overseeing imaging, and triaging issues in our ticket tracking system, Help.UNM
(Cherwell). Proficient in basic clerical skills and
willing to use work time to learn and expand one’s knowledge.
Recruits, trains, and interviews prospective computer consultants and organizes
the staffing and scheduling for the labs and computer classrooms. Provides setup and technical support for the lectern PCs, computer classrooms,
and training center usage. Design and present to students instructional modules
pertaining to a variety of Lab software.
Responsible for ongoing training for support staff development along with
helping coordinate various special projects in the labs and computer
classrooms. May be required to perform other administrative tasks. Must
demonstrate the ability to work independently, to organize time efficiently,
and to communicate professionally with faculty, staff, and students. Takes
initiative to solve many of the computing problems that occur on a daily basis
in the labs, training centers, lecterns, and computer classrooms. Works with IT
Publications/Lab Documentation in updating clients that are accessible online
& hardcopy reference information. Develops and publishes online surveys. Responsible
for posting appropriate lab signage related to the labs' functionality.
Orders and distributes lab supplies. Supervises computer consultants and may be
expected to issue disciplinary actions. Responsible for lab security -
requesting keys and keypad codes. Responsible for running routine IT repairs on
campus. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Minimum Qualifications 1. Previous customer service experience. 2. Troubleshooting experience with hardware, software, and projectors, and general proficiency in the following software/services: Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Products, Firefox, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and survey software. 3. Familiarity with Active Directory, TechFinder, and PHP-based web content. 4. Ability to design and present instructional modules to students and staff.

1. Previous experience as a Scon or Learning Environments Student Tech. 2. Ability to resolve disputes. 3. Ability to evaluate and recommend improvements associated with all aspects of the lab environment. 4. Ability to work with faculty and teaching assistants. 5. Ability to troubleshoot software and hardware issues and coordinate with intradepartmental IT specialists to resolve issues and projects. 6. Ability to organize and maintain employee scheduling. 7. Prior experience in a similar capacity at another department or institution. 8. Experience with knowledge engineering and FastInfo, TechFinder, Active Directory, Operating System imaging in Windows using SCCM and in Macintosh using Jamf, and ability to use IT problem reporting system Help.UNM. 9. Provide Portfolio of Work (if available). 10. Public speaking experience.
