Temp Parttime Faculty - Culinary Arts Food Safety - req# 30164

UNM-Taos’ Career and Technical Education Department invites applicants for Temporary Part time Faculty positions (Adjunct) to teach a lower division face to face courses in Culinary Arts entitled ServSafe Food Handler. This position will be hired on an as needed basis dependent on student enrollment, course offering matrix, and graduation requirements. Potential courses include but are not limited to lower division (100-200 level) courses in the above mentioned disciplines include the following:

CART 106 (Fall 2024) ServSafe Food Handler: will include food handling, safety and sanitation for the culinary arts. The course will be taught in a face-to-face format. Students completing the course will receive ServSafe Food Handler Certification. (1 credit).

MinimumQualifications:

An associate’s/Bachelor’s Degree from a culinary program and professional experience in the area which they are applying to teach.Applicant must have completed a program of study in the discipline or subfield in which they teach, with coursework at least one level above that of the courses being taught or developed (e.g., completed a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline or subfield in which they teach or tested experience that is determined to be equivalent to the degree.

PreferredQualifications:

• Professional experience in the area which they are applying to teach.
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
• Extensive experience in teaching food handling, safety and sanitation for the culinary arts to both high school and post-secondary students.
• Extensive experience in creating sanitary and safe environments for the culinary arts in both professional and academic settings
