Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The functional analyst provides technical support to the Financial Aid Office ensuring all processes are compliant in accordance to Department of Education regulations.

A brief and high-level list of duties include:
  • Providing functional and technical support to the Financial Aid Office
  • Updating, testing, and running processes for the Financial Aid system
  • Recommending and implementing process solutions to work in an efficient manner and improve customer service and productivity
  • Managing system projects, reports progress, and identifying and recommending solutions to potential problems
  • Serving as back-up office contact for Department of Education systems and for any campus Security/IT committees
  • Running and building reports/queries as needed

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
A Master’s degree in computer science, information technology or related area with no experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related area and 0‐2 years experience, OR an Associate’s degree from a technical college with a major in computer science, information technology or related area and 1-2 years in the information technology field related to the position’s role, OR Related information technology experience may be substituted year for year for the required education. Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of Title IV aid processes and regulations.
  • Demonstrated capacity to function in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated record of strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in supporting Ellucian Banner Financial Aid module highly preferred
  • Experience in report writing (e.g SQL), building, and running
  • Strong knowledge and use of Excel
  • Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA) is expected to serve students seeking financial aid assistance as well as students who receive benefits which require coordination through the OSFA. The OSFA currently serves approximately 70% of the student body. This includes federal financial assistance, veterans educational benefits, all tuition waivers (including faculty/staff , senior citizens and others), all scholarships, all institutional aid and all non-institutional aid. These financial assistance programs include grants, scholarships, loans and part-time employment.

Major functions of the department include management of funds processing aid applications from students each year, monitoring records and procedures for compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, monitoring records and procedures for compliance with NCAA athletics rules, providing federal, state, and donor reports, and providing general financial aid advising and counseling to current and prospective students and their parents.
