The Police Reporter is responsible for covering (write, video, edit) the UNFPD police beat, as well as other crime, court and safety stories relevant to UNF.
The police reporter will also be assigned to cover other news and feature stories as needed.

Employees must meet the responsibilities and qualifications of the position consistent with a minimum of 10 hours of competent effort each week.
Reporters must:
Write at least two publishable, compelling, timely multimedia stories/photo galleries/video clips per week
Cover a beat and/or follow up on future story leads as assigned.
Make a deadline.
Double-check facts.
Never plagiarize.
Exhibit fairness.
Learn/use the basics of reporting, writing, editing, photography, videography, audio production.
Contribute story ideas to the editor.
Go over each assignment with the editor, including sources and records that should be secured; follow up with the editor after crucial reporting is done to give the story in a sentence; edit the first draft with the editor; produce subsequent drafts as needed.
Participate in the Emergency Breaking News on-call team if you are a paid Breaking News reporter, a paid videographer, or a paid photographer.
Attend weekly news meetings unless excused.
Complete basic news training classes when needed.

- Must be continuously enrolled at UNF for the duration of the position (and available for a minimum of 16 weeks for the Fall and Spring semester) and not be on academic probation or suspension according to the most recent UNF course catalog as defined by the most-recent University of North Florida course catalog.
