Department Summary
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Student Assistant – IT Support Student Consultant Lead in the Information Technology Department with UNT Dallas. The Office of Information Technology provides support for computing, instruction, telecommunications and data communications at UNT Dallas.

Position Summary
The IT Support Student Consultant Lead is responsible for coordinating support of the UNT Dallas OIT Help desk during off-hours. This includes support of classes, labs, weeknights and weekends.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

  • Timely and regular communication with faculty, staff, and students through submitted work orders and phone calls.
  • Peer lead IT Student Consultants during off-hours.
  • Maintains helpdesk procedure.
  • Oversees the creation, documentation, and communication of work orders during off-hours.
  • Assists OIT full time staff with projects as assigned.
  • Provides first tier support of classroom and lab technology issues.

Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled UNT Dallas, UNT Dallas College of Law, HSC or UNT student in good standing and making satisfactory progress toward completion of a degree or certification program. Applicants must possess the following:

  • Excellent customer service skills, as well as effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Some knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Responsible, reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to learn assigned tasks readily, to adhere to prescribed routines, and to develop some skill in the operation of common office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Good organizational skills and responsibly complete assigned tasks.
  • Must be detail-oriented have the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Considerable knowledge of major Operating Systems, Windows 7 and 10, Mac OSX.
  • Familiar with hardware and software issues.
  • General knowledge of instructional classroom technology.

Work Schedule
Work schedule Monday through Fridays days and evenings. Schedule may vary based on class schedule and department needs. May include weekend hours.
