What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Professor Specializing in Cell and Gene Therapy, Tenure Track position at University of Pennsylvania?

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for several Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. The successful applicant will have experience in fundamental research advancing cell or gene therapy technologies in cell and animal model systems. Applicants must have an M.D., M.D./Ph.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree.
Research responsibilities will include developing and maintaining an active basic and/or translational research program. Successful applicants will have evidence of prior scholarly productivity and a strong publication record in one or more aspects of cell and gene therapy, with examples including viral and non-viral mediated gene transfer, virology, vectorology, bio-engineering, and translational bioscience.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching and mentoring of students, postdoctoral fellows, and other trainees.
For physician candidates, clinical responsibilities may include providing inpatient and outpatient care to pediatric patients at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
A startup package commensurate with experience will be provided. The selected candidate will be expected to secure extramural grant funding. The primary faculty appointment will be in a department in the Perelman School of Medicine that provides the best scientific fit. The position will be based at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Should the applicant advance technologies from the preclinical to the clinical stage, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania have a robust infrastructure to produce clinical-grade viral vectors and cell therapies and have well-developed administrative structures to meet complex regulatory requirements.
