ResponsibilitiesGENERAL PURPOSE:Reporting to the Vice President for Human Resources, the Senior Director of the HR Business Partner Program is tasked with the leadership of the HR Operations Directors and HR Business Partners (HRBPs) across the University. This role is responsible for programmatic and development planning and evaluation of the HRBP program at the University with the goal of creating and maintaining consistency and alignment of HRBP work within the HR Strategic Plan and in support of the Mission, Vision and Values of the University. A steward of University policies and procedures, this position develops close working relationships with Senior Leaders across the University and works with the HR Operations Directors and HR Business Partners to ensure that HRBPs are equipped to effectively lead and provide guidance in human resource policy, procedures, and workforce planning to business operations enabling the University to accomplish identified business objectives. Additionally, this position will maintain a full perspective of the business placing emphasis on building a culture of inclusion, engagement and effective workforce management across the University utilizing process re-design and change management when needed.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversight of and work with the HR Operations Directors in establishing both short and long-term departmental goals, strategies, objectives, and metrics to enable operational goals in HR Business Partner assignments across the University. Lead the HR Directors of Operations and HR Business Partners (HRBPs) toward a unified vision and common objective.
Ensure standards for performance are developed for the HR Business Partners and ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary for delivering excellence in HR support and services through the creation of an on-going structured professional development program.
Develop the business acumen of the HR Operations Directors and the HRBPs and support them in HR service delivery to the business. Provide tools, structure, information, and guidance such that the HRBPs can best support their assignments to ensure workforce structure and skills match organizational needs. Provide support and expertise regarding employee development, engagement, professional growth and career mobility within the University.
Maintain alignment between the business operations and the HR practices and objectives through a keen understanding of the business strategy, providing dynamic solutions using experience, data analyses, and organizational agility to guide decision making.
Play a major analytical role in leveraging workforce insights and analytics in order to focus the business leaders on relevant people management issues while assessing potential strategies and solutions. In this capacity, the Senior Director of HR Business Partners, in concert with the HR Operations Directors, also conducts research and data analytics that identify talent gaps, assesses organizational performance, and proposes solutions that are in support of the business.
Leverage HR metrics, drawing insights from plain data, research and information to make recommendations to the CHRO, HR leaders, Operational Senior Leadership, key stakeholders, and business partners which will enable informed decision making, management strategy formulation, and policy formulation.
Conduct performance analyses on existing strategies, procedures, and policies, identifying areas for improvement and developing actionable and sustainable solutions where needed.
Work closely with Director of Employee Engagement, Identify and implement strategies to develop and drive people management strategies that promote a culture of inclusion and engagement where all employees feel valued and respected while delivering on overall business priorities and goals.
Maintain a superior level of technical HR skill, knowledge, and expertise, inclusive of legal knowledge, trends and best practices. Work to ensure understanding of industry and business factors that shape how HR strategies are developed, implemented, and sustained; in addition to maintaining an understanding of the business, market influencers, and finances.
Actively participate in project teams and play a major role in the management of varied HR driven projects throughout the business.
Ensure that HR related programs are carried out in accordance with University policies and procedures and provide advice to HR Operations Directors and HRBPs with respect to the interpretation and application of policies and procedures. Propose improvements to policies and procedures to increase the effectiveness of human resources operations and assist in making changes as appropriate.
Prepare and deliver reports and presentations for various forums and array of audiences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. 5 years of Human Resources experience with an additional 5 years of progressive HR leadership experience required, including experience and/or functional knowledge in the areas of recruiting/staffing, employee relations, employee development and retention, compensation, benefits, employee records, performance management and talent management. SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
