Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama, one year of related experience, and possession of a valid driver’s license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama. A master’s degree will trade for the required experience.

Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama’s Office of International Admissions is seeking to hire an International Admissions Specialist. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.

Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
  • Provides students with requested information regarding academic requirements and policies for both undergraduate and graduate University admissions by email, phone, letter, WhatsApp, Zoom or in person.
  • Processes international applicants (undergraduate and graduate) for admission to the University, including loading applications, notifying students of documents needed and routing application through specific academic areas.
  • Calculates all international applicants grade point averages.
  • Evaluates all international applicants for English proficiency.
  • Processes all academic testing information and communicates with testing agencies concerning test changes, policies and specific issues; performs continuous research of international resources regarding grading scales, accreditation, degree equivalency and education systems required.
  • Processes and prepares all international readmission applicants for review.
  • Runs reports using SLATE/Banner to identify applicants for various email/telephone campaigns.
  • Corresponds with prospective students using PC and telephone.
  • Counsels with prospective students and families; responsible for application flow (undergraduate/graduate) through the office from incoming mail, application loading, pending notices and emails, and acceptance review, admissions, and acceptance letters.
  • Accesses student files and determines status information using SLATE/Banner system.
  • Verifies all academic records for international undergraduate/graduate students.
  • Images and indexes all admission documents for international applicants into Banner using Xtender.
  • Communicates with colleges/departments regarding international students admission/academic status.
  • Communicates with colleges/departments regarding international admission deadlines and processing information each semester.
  • Places holds on international students with incomplete files.
  • May assist with updating college or division bulletins; conducts orientation activities.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and administration of educational, cultural and recreational programs designed to meet the needs of a diverse student body.
  • Assists in the planning, promotion, implementation and evaluation of programs.
    Assists in the selection, training and leadership development of Orientation Leaders and other student leaders.
  • Assists in meeting with students to provide organization advising, one-on-one advising and event/program advising.
  • Makes presentations to different sized audiences.
  • Utilizes departmental Social Media accounts.
  • Works closely with the Director and Coordinator.
  • Utilizes a University vehicle for student activity transport.
  • Moves boxes and cases weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
  • Related duties as required.
