Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
The School of Medicine Greenville is accepting applications for the role of Student Wellness and Engagement Coordinator within the Office of Student Affairs.

Under the leadership of the Associate Dean for Students Affairs, with direct supervision from the Manager of Student Affairs, the Wellness and Engagement Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and staff on matters related to student wellness education and promotion. The Wellness and Engagement Coordinator plays a crucial role in the overall success of M1 and M2 students at the School of Medicine Greenville by providing guidance related to personal, academic, and career planning issues. In addition, the Wellness and Engagement Coordinator leads planning and execution of student affairs related events, including the annual Student Organization Fair, Wellness Symposium, and assists the Manager of Student Affairs with the Student Awards Ceremony. Serves as a liaison for institutional events including Welcome Picnic and White Coat Ceremony.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Master’s degree in student services or related field and 2 years of related experience in student affairs, student engagement, student health/wellness or other closely related field or bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with supporting students from diverse backgrounds
  • Prior experience with event planning
  • Prior experience with State Agency or University procedures and policies.
  • Experience working with student information systems such as CANVAS , OASIS , NRMP , ERAS and Banner.
  • Prior experience with university administration
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook and database management
  • Prior experience developing and/or administrating grant-funded projects
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Demonstrates teamwork, self-awareness, professionalism, open/transparent communication, and servant/conscious leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work independently
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees
  • Knowledge of coaching, instructional and mentoring techniques
  • Knowledge of processes and resources for organizing and leading group and collaborative activities
  • Knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work and maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Professionalism and the ability to meet expected deadlines while prioritizing multiple tasks and maintaining confidentiality are essential to successful performance consistent with campus initiatives around conscious leadership.
  • The Student Wellness and Engagement Coordinator must demonstrate commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion with experience fostering an inclusive environment, engaging in ongoing professional development, and working as part of a learning community with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds, including race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, educational background, languages spoken, socioeconomic status, and geography, among others.
