Job Summary
A Laboratory Technician II position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Piya Ghose in the UTA Biology Department. The Ghose lab will study programmed cell death in C. elegans and its relationship with behavior.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsibilities for the position includes keeping worm strains growing for experiments that require careful handling of several sensitive worm strains.
  • Using fluorescence dissecting microscope to select and isolate worms from growth plates.
  • Helping to isolate animals carrying the plasmids after microinjections on worms.
  • Examining the lifespan of animal’s defective for various genes and various other stereotyped behaviors.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Biology or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Research Lab; worm handling, molecular biology basic microscope operation.
