Manages and coordinates activities of personnel involved in performing internal and external operations, primarily responsible for aiding and assisting Award Management.
Essential Functions
Supervise the work of Cash Management Accountants (4) to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors, or resolving problems.
Direct employee training and mentoring to improve efficiency and ensure conformance to standard procedures and practices. Analyzes and resolves departmental, external, and sponsoring agencies' problems; implements measures to improve production methods and to motivate workers.
Provide Cash Management Accountants with guidance in handling complex situations or in resolving escalating complaints or disputes.
Familiarity with various sponsoring agencies and electronic research financial systems.
Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills; and an energy level conducive to working in a deadline-driven environment.
Weekly monitoring of work activities for Cash Management such as AR Aging, invoice log, unbilled transactions, deposit log, etc.
Responsible for the hiring process, and performance evaluations of employees.
Semi-monthly cash management updates sent to management to participate in meetings with Director.
Review and sign invoices sent to sponsoring agencies. Ensure reporting completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
Monthly grant validation such as review of bill plan setup, billing events, and aging log.
Conducts staff meetings with departmental personnel to discuss progress, operational problems or explain procedural changes or practices.
Annually prepares SEFA, STPR, schedules for AFR reporting, and NSF HERD survey; to include Pass-thru TO and FROM confirmations with other state agencies, process journal entries to account for year-end adjustment and accruals both in PeopleSoft and USAS; completes SEFA and STPR certifications; generates several schedules required for AFR. Prepares and submits HERD Survey from NSF to report only Research expenditures for the University.
May participate in various professional training courses, industry conferences, and/or agency meetings.
Implement departmental policies, procedures, and service standards in conjunction with management.
Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and University policy and procedures.
Assists with various special projects as needed, such as the testing of institutional software systems.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems, to include Peoplesoft, ORSP tools, GART, Milestones Database and Subcontract Database.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties as assigned.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's objectives, policies, and applicable laws.

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration
and
Experience: Five (5) years of related experience and/or training to the essential duties and responsibilities
