Primary Purpose:
The Staff Psychologist II / Sports Psychologist is a split position that devotes about 25 hours per week to the main Stockton campus, and about 15 hours per week to Intercollegiate Athletics. This position reports to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services. This position is staffed by an individual who is both licensed as a Psychologist in the State of California and is either a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) or actively working toward certification. This role is responsible for providing mental health services that reduce barriers and create opportunities for greater academic achievement and student success. The Staff Psychologist II works collaboratively across the university to provide culturally competent services for our diverse college student body. Additionally, in the role of Sports Psychologist this person is responsible for coordinating care between Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and Intercollegiate Athletes.

Essential Functions:
Provides group, individual, and couples therapy, and psychoeducational workshops to a culturally diverse college student body, including Intercollegiate Athletes, in accordance with the university statement on diversity and inclusion.
Provides preventative outreach/programming and trainings, and represents CAPS at campus events such as orientation, critical incident debriefing, workshops, with Intercollegiate Athletics, and other situations on an as needed basis.
Provides primary or delegated clinical supervision for unlicensed trainees.
Consults with faculty, staff, students, and Intercollegiate Athletics regarding student concerns and participates in university-wide committees.
Consults with and provides oversight of mental skills coaches brought in by Intercollegiate Athletics.
Participates in staff, multidisciplinary team, and Student Life Divisional meetings.
Keeps accurate and timely electronic records on all contacts with clients.
Maintains compliance with ethical standards in the execution of services in accordance with the American Psychological Association, university policies, local, state and federal rules and regulations.
Attends professional development opportunities and maintains licensure status with the appropriate California board and certification with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral Degree from an APA accredited program.
Current valid license to practice psychology as an independent practitioner in the State of California or valid license to practice in a state in the United States and able to practice under Business and Professional Code Section 2946 (maximum of 180 days subject to the specifics of the regulation).
Commitment to DEI and trauma-informed care and experience working with diverse clients.
Two (2) years of experience working with adolescents or adults.
Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology or actively working toward certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a sports psychologist role on a college campus.
Demonstrated skills in culturally competent approaches to multiple modalities of therapy (e.g., group, individual, couples, crisis interventions, consultation, and workshops).
Experience in providing clinical supervision.
Ability to teach in an informal workshop setting.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated through the ability to establish and maintain effective working with other departments within the university.
Bilingual/Multilingual.
Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is primarily performed in clinical or office environment, with some outreach performed outdoors or on other campuses. Work is generally performed during standard business hours. May be required to work non-business hours. Moderate travel.

Valid drivers license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the Universitys fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
