UVA Library is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated candidate for the position of LEO Driver to join UVA Library’s well-recognized LEO (Library Express On-Grounds) and Scanning Services team. The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver Library collections to the UVA community, which is done either physically to academic departments and Library branches, or electronically by digitizing articles and book chapters on demand. The LEO Driver also is responsible for the retrieval of Library materials from the collections of the university's central Library, along with those of the Library branches located throughout the UVA grounds. The LEO Driver will spend much of their time driving and walking around the grounds, throughout buildings, and into the surrounding community.
Responsibilities
Uses a computer to process Library materials for LEO departmental or Library delivery.
Transfers Library materials, loads, unloads and operates LEO van in accordance with all safety and efficiency guidelines established by UVA.
Exhibits safe driving practices, adhering to speed limits and all other state laws and regulations for motor vehicles.
Collaborates with University and Library colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
Troubleshoots and reports technical issues or other problems to LEO Supervisor.
Scans instructional, research support materials and larger scanning projects using flatbed and overhead scanners.
Under the guidance of the supervisor, supports and collaborates with other Resource Sharing and Document Delivery Services sections as needed.
