What are the responsibilities and job description for the MEDICAL PROGRAM ASSISTANT - ENDOCRINOLOGY position at University of Wisconsin–Madison?
This position provides administrative support to the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, Department of Medicine (DOM), University of Wisconsin School of Medicine & Public Health (UW SMPH). The Medical Program Assistant provides support to the Division Chief in the successful performance of their teaching, research, clinical, and administrative goals while maintaining a thorough knowledge of relevant policies and procedures of the Division, Department, School, and University. This position assists in coordinating, and participates in meetings, and facilitates effective communication both within and outside of the Division, DOM, and UW SMPH. This position is also a back-up for other Endocrinology administrative staff when needed. The position must interface with outside physicians, administrators, researchers, and patients. This position functions under limited supervision from the Endocrinology Division Administrator. The position will also receive daily work direction from, and work closely with, the Division Chief.
This position requires excellent interpersonal, computer and organizational skills. It also requires the ability to work confidentially and independently while dealing with diverse communities of faculty/academic and health care /physician environment. A high level of professionalism is required of all UW Department of Medicine faculty and staff. - 40% Performs administrative tasks including telephone customer service, word processing, transcribing, filing, and calendaring
- 10% Acts as the primary liaison for providers or programs and refers stakeholders to providers, agencies, patients, and staff
- 15% Assists in coordinating the complex daily activities of providers or program(s) by entering information into databases, maintaining files and materials, and preparing reports
- 25% Schedules logistics and secures or distributes resources for program meetings, department events, conferences, and travel
- 10% Serve as purchasing liaison for Division of Endocrinology
