The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Division of Finance and Administrative Affairs is currently seeking to fill a Security Officer position for the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Police Department.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Operations Lieutenant and the direction of the Shift Sergeant or Officer In Charge, this position is responsible for providing security and protection of all University buildings, grounds, and equipment from loss or damage, providing emergency assistance as needed, observing and reporting any situation that could cause injury or loss to the University, faculty, staff or students, and insuring that the rules and laws applicable to the campus are effectively enforced by directing compliance, issuing warnings/citations, and reporting violations to the appropriate authorities as necessary. This position also does Walking Patrol duty in defined areas surrounding the campus. This position assists and supports University Police Officers in accomplishing their duties whenever practical and within the Security Officer I scope of abilities and departmental needs
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license or possess a valid license from another state and are eligible to receive a Wisconsin driver’s license
- Be free of any felony convictions
- Be free of any domestic abuse convictions
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- High school diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum Age: 18
- Experience working with higher education police/security agencies
- A minimum of 60 college credits and/or an Associate degree in criminal justice or related field
- Advance training evidence by documentation, in security operations and/or patrol
- Experience working with portable radios and communications
