ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

This position reports to the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and assures alumni success following graduation through supporting alumni via networking, offering opportunities for growth and development, and facilitating continuing education opportunities through lectures, webinars, etc. The Director serves in this high-profile position and prepares and carries out the strategic direction for alumni relations.

The Director identifies alumni for the purpose of adding vibrancy to the academic and student life components of the student university experience. This includes alumni serving as guest lecturers, student mentors, event speakers, and members of governing and advisory boards across campus. Alumni play a critical role in supporting student success, enhancing the University’s brand, assisting the University in expanding its influence in the region, and financially strengthening the University’s ability to graduate alumni who make a difference in the world.

This position requires a visionary leader with proven experience with strategic intention, operational excellence, and the nuanced talent to connect alumni with the mission of the University in authentic, genuine ways.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Leads the development, production, and dissemination of engaging and inspiring communication (including funding appeals) and branding strategies and materials (including website) for Advancement/Alumni.
  • Plans and leads the implementation of major alumni events, volunteer committees, and activities in alignment with strategic initiatives and objectives. Qualifies alumni for campus involvement by assessing expertise and experience. Works with the Chancellor & Vice Chancellor for Advancement on engaging alumni in key roles to advance the University mission and leads the strategic visioning and thought direction for alumni relations focused on impactful results and operational efficiency.
  • Meets or exceeds annual performance goals and expectations, including: number of personal visits with alumni; number of gifts solicited and received; dollar amounts solicited and received; number of new major-gift prospects visited and qualified.
  • Serves as a alumni liaison for internal and external stakeholders, answers questions, and provides information about established programs based on set material or standards. Serves as a University-level spokesperson at events, etc. Assures alumni success via set strategic initiatives.
  • Monitors, organizes, and updates alumni records, and works with peer staff to implement operating policies and procedures Supervises student work-study arrangements for the Alumni/Advancement Office.

QUALIFICATIONS:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree at time of application
  • 5 years experience in demonstrated relationship management
  • 5 years experience in demonstrated program visioning, development, and leadership
  • Demonstrated experience in meeting fund raising revenue goals, sales goals, or similar performance related objective
  • Demonstrated experience as a leader capable of artful diplomacy
  • Proven ability to act with discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and engage others to genuinely commit time, expertise, and resources to the inherent value of higher education

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge

Some travel and night and weekend duties are necessary to be successful in this leadership position.

Position is a full-time Academic Staff appointment. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). SALARY INFORMATION

Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

BENEFIT DETAILS

UW System provides an excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of its employees. This includes several health insurance options, with annual deductibles as low as $250/individual and $500/family. Our benefits package also includes dental, vision, several life insurance options, AD&D and Accident insurance and Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts. We participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), where employer contributions begin immediately and employees are fully vested after 5 years of service. The UW System also provides supplemental retirement savings programs including a 403(b) and Deferred Compensation.

In addition, employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually. Employees earn 13-27 days of vacation each year, depending on years of service and employment type.
