Job Summary

The Office of Institutional Research and Data Strategy (OIRDS) collects, analyzes, warehouses, and disseminates institutional data in a timely manner to support strategic and operational planning, policy formation, and effective decision-making. This includes official reporting, ad hoc data requests, internal surveys, and maintaining accurate data for the University System of Georgia. OIRDS is also responsible for institutional assessment of academic programs, student support, administrative areas, and supports specialized program accreditation.


This Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment Analyst position is key on the OIRDS team that provides technical, analytical, and coordinative support for research activities, including data collection, analysis, reporting, and presentation on behalf of the Office of Institutional Research and Data Strategy. This position assists in facilitating assessment and evaluation efforts for the purpose of enhancing the quality of programs, services, operations and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and administers academic and institutional surveys.
  • Prepares reports and manages data from institutional assessments.
  • Assists the Director or Institutional Effectiveness with processes associated with the strategic planning and institutional effectiveness efforts of the institution.
  • Participates in and promotes projects that enhance instruction and help the institution to achieve annual goals and objectives which are a part of strategic planning.
  • Assists in ensuring institutional compliance under regulatory agencies (accreditation, federal, state).
  • Maintains history of communication and compliance documentation for regulatory agencies.
  • Creates and audits files routinely, including faculty credentials and other academic affairs documents.
  • Prepares and processes correspondence, reports and other documents for regulatory agencies.
  • Assist others in the OIRDS and across the University with data collection, review, analysis and compilation of results.
  • Integrate and interpret academic data used to support the assessment and program review process for academic programs, support units, and administrative units.
  • Query the various data systems to satisfy division/department requests for data and information.
  • Manage multiple short- and long-term IEA projects, set IEA priorities, meet IEA deadlines, and work with minimal supervision as an integral member of the IEA team.
  • Serve as a resource to provide data-related technical and analytical support to various stakeholders in the University community.
  • Research and support reports including the MGA Fact Book, Common Data Set, and Internal reports as needed.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees of all divisions throughout the University.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.

Proposed Salary

The minimum annualized salary for this position is $49,838 and includes full benefits.

  • Proficient with computer applications and programs such as Microsoft Office and Google suite
  • Strong customer service skills
  • The ability to work independently in a fast paced loosely structured environment with competing demand
  • Knowledge of institutional research, and assessment principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of current trends and solutions especially related to data reporting and business intelligence.
  • Experience in survey design, administration and analysis


Preferred:

  • Specific knowledge of Middle Georgia State University and University System of Georgia (USG)
  • Specific knowledge of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
  • Specific knowledge of SQL, Banner, Microsoft Teams, Anthology, Tableau, PeopleSoft, Qualtrics or an ability and willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of Higher Education norms and practices
