The successful Master Teacher organizes and provides developmentally appropriate early childhood education programs; plans and implements curriculum standards for children ranging in age from six weeks to 14 years old; supervises and observes teachers in classroom or other teaching settings to assess relevant skills, and recommends methods and strategies appropriate to the achievement of project goals; plans and prepares classroom setting; oversees safety and educational programs; supervises children in the classroom; provides a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors; leads and functionally supervises assigned staff and students, to include work allocation, training, and problem resolution; provides performance management feedback as appropriate; involvement with daily classroom scheduling and other administrative duties as assigned including compiling data, writing reports, and overseeing compliance of licensing regulations.
This is a direct supervisor position that must be on-site and available to Teachers, Children, and Families on a day-to-day basis. This person must also have experience working with young children in an educational setting. This Master Teacher oversees compliance with The State of New Mexico CYFD licensing requirements for childcare, as well as compliance with our Tiered Quality Improvement Rating System (FOCUS) and our National Accreditation through The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The early childhood programs provided by our department provide services to 300 families; the Master Teacher will support the teaching staff in providing consistent and high-quality programming aligning with the UNMCC philosophy and the University of New Mexico policies. The classrooms and teaching staff consist of 15 classrooms, 45 teaching staff, 40 student staff, and 300 families on a daily basis. This includes direct supervision, along with two other Master Teachers, to ensure licensing compliance and all appropriate safety measures.
