General Summary:
Our existing business strategy is an important part of our enterprise objectives of driving growth, delivering efficiencies, and delighting customers. The Regional Portfolio Consultant, as the Existing strategy expert, will be responsible for partnering and consulting with our sales organization and internal business partners to drive frequent sales transactions and retention of Colonial Life’s Existing clients for their assigned regions. This includes performing data and trend analysis, opportunity identification, and collaborating with the Regional VP of Sales (VPS) and Territory Sales Managers (TSM) to implement strategies to achieve sales and retention objectives through a client-first lens.Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with VPS, TSM and core teams to drive Quality Portfolio Management (QPM) education, engagement and implement high value acquisition, enrollment, and account management processes for Existing clients.
- Develop and drive national/regional/territorial/district account management strategies and enrolling select clients that maximizes sales premium growth within the existing block.
- Implement and reinforce activities to generate year-over-year growth in sales through increased penetration, up-selling and cross-selling with through use of Agent Assist, Account Management Performance platform, Growth Recommendation (AIMs) and other resources.
- Responsible for assessment, recommendations, and assist District General Agents (DGA) in development of district-level QPM strategies (QPM Scorecard, Business Quality Index (BQI), In-force Premium Per Eligible (IPPE), persistency metrics, reenrollment success, etc.).
- Responsible for developing and driving education, training and ongoing enhancements regarding tools and strategies to drive effective QPM processes (e.g., Agent Assist) at the regional/territory and district levels.
- Provide leadership within the territory/districts through high quality, dynamic workshop facilitation, structured coaching and engagement with Core team and DGAs in group/team activities.
- Develop appropriate existing client metrics and controls to monitor and analyze trends in adoption of national and district level, while reporting results to VPS and TSM.
- Act as a coach and mentor to new team members
- May perform other duties as required.
Job Specifications
- 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
- 7 years’ experience in sales organization or managing accounts
- Strategic and analytical thinking
- Excellent consultative skills in sales and business owner environment
- Relationship focused with the ability to interact and influence at all levels and with business partners, brokers, and all customer types.
- Creative and innovative, generating ways to constantly improve the customer experience, gain greater access to educate and protect more employees and their families, secure best practice enrollment conditions, grow client relationships and maximize sales transactions through new hires and re-enrollment opportunities.
- Knowledge of Colonial Life business processes, enrollment technology, products, and services from end to end (i.e., benefits communication, enrollment options, billing, and service capabilities) is preferred
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to leverage data and proficient with Sales Applications and Microsoft Office
- Professional image and behavior in various settings, including the client facing
- Developed customer relationship skills with the ability to listen, identify needs and desires - position and influence ideal solutions
- Good negotiator – assertive, yet diplomatic; sets and manages boundaries well
- Partners well with others in the home office for effective cross functional account solutions
- Up to 35% travel required

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$75,500.00-$135,900.00Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
