What are the responsibilities and job description for the Neurodiagnostic Coordinator position at UPMC?
Purpose:
Coordinates and has direct oversight responsibility for the daily operation of the Neurodiagnostic Labs at Community General, Harrisburg Hospital, and Fredericksen Outpatient Center. Coordinates the activities of all staff within these laboratories under the direction of the Manager and Director of the Cardiovascular Diagnostics Department. Assists in program development of new procedures and technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Personal contact with personnel of all levels of the organization. Must be able to communicate effectively and be objective and fair when dealing with patients and issues related to personnel.
- Acts as a resource to Department Manager/Director and Neurologists concerning general operations of the Neurodiagnostic Laboratories.
- Coordinates ongoing continuing education for the staff.
- Develops new procedures with respective Medical Directors and Department Manager/Director.
- Maximizes staffing efficiencies during the week and also on weekends and holidays.
- Performs all procedures.
- Orients and trains new employees.
- Interviews and selects staff in conjunction with Department Manager.
- Provides input on annual staff evaluations in conjunction with the Department Manager.
- Maintains equipment in good working order and initiates repairs with Biomedical Engineering.
- Monitors supply stocks and orders appropriately.
- Maintains accurate data relative to patient testing and performance improvement programs (i.e., ongoing EEG quality monitors).
- Schedules rotations of students through department for training.
- Reassigns staffing as appropriate according to workload needs.
- Schedules duties of the EEG Technicians within Pinnacle Health System.
