Western Psychiatric Hospital, UPMC: Psychiatric Registered Nurse
- Facility Address: 3811 O'Hara St, Pittsburgh, PA 15213
- Hours/Schedule: 40 hours a week. Days/Evening Rotating shift Or Evening/Night shifts 8 and 12 hour shifts
8 Hour Shifts:
Day Shift: 7am to 3:30pm
Evening Shift: 11am to 7:30pm, 12pm to 8:30pm, 3pm to 11:30pm
Night Shift: 7pm to 3:30am, 11:15 pm to 7:15am, 11pm to 7:30am
12 hour Shifts:
Days: 7am to 7:30pm
Evening Shift: 11am to 11:30pm
Night Shift: 7pm to 7:30am or 11pm to 11:30am
- Weekend and holiday requirement: Weekends start at 11pm on Friday and end at 7am on Monday. Every other weekend requirement. Holiday requirement: Will need to work 2 out of 4 recognized holidays. Holidays recognized are Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving, New Years Day. Half of these.
- Pay: Depends on experience and education starting at $27.14/hr with an associates or $28.14 w/ a BSN.
- Shift differentials: $1.25/hour for evening and night shift. Weekend shift differential is $1.25 per hour. The weekend shift shall be all hours worked from 11:15pm Friday to 11:30pm Saturday.
Responsibilities:
· Attends two unit-based or institute-wide in-services yearly.
· Serves as mentor to students and new employees.
· Participates in interdisciplinary activities including, treatment team, staff meeting, co-worker feedback process and other committees as assigned.
· Performs a nursing assessment and initial plan of care within 8 hours of patient's admission.
· Orients/educates patient regarding hospitalization.
· Completes medication administration safely and accurately, including transcription, administration and documentation according to established policies.
· Manages crisis situations effectively using positive approaches.
· Performs point of care testing per unit (i.e., glucose monitoring, urinalysis, Hemocults.)
· Participates with unit management in Program Development and Performance Improvement Activities.
Must haves:
· Education: ASN required
· Licensure: PA RN License
- Certification:
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or BLS
- Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) - CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
- Will be granted the following clearances upon starting:
- Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
- Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance
· Experience: New grads accepted.
· The incumbent must by physically capable of providing direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent, mentally ill patients as necessary including lifting, supporting, running towards or away from areas where problems are occurring, and pushing and pulling equipment, such as, wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds
