Overview
Upwork has partenered with one of their enterprise client who is the world’s leading media investment company responsible for more than $50B in annual media investment.
They are currently looking for a Manager to work ongoing with their team by being responsible for the integrity of day-to-day operations and tactical execution on the planning team, in addition to helping allocate budgets across offline channels.
Responsibilities
Strategic Development & Media Plan Management• Key contributor to tactical development process.• Assume key role in integration of client’s media efforts and demonstrate full understanding of client’s businesses as basis for all future work.• Develop role of channels, strategic tactics, and investment omni-channel recommendations across Digital, Social, Search, TV, Print, OOH, etc.• Focus on data informed approaches to media and campaign measurement.• Continually seek innovative and breakthrough ideas, approaches and solutions for offline media.• Evaluate /approve recommendations and media plans before sending to client.• Investigate all new opportunities from a broad perspective to determine appropriateness and soundness of idea or company.• Manage the Agency’s media planning and implementation resources (and partner agencies where applicable) to deliver quality and timely programs.• Participate in media financial management of client accounts and help Associate Director facilitate inter-agency budget documentation.
Collaboration• Develop effective and inspiring working relationships with 10 team members, ranging from Associate to Director, including investment and implementation teams.• Help drive thought leadership within the team.• Work to build respectful, collaborative working relationships with multiple outside agency partners and senior clients.
Leadership• Where applicable, lead Associate(s) and/or Sr. Associate(s) in allocating workload, division of projects, best practices for local and national media investment.• Delegate work effectively so as to not only teach direct reports, but to also deliver seamless work to client.• Assist in development and execution of agency training initiatives.• Participate in, and encourage/support, staff attendance in various media training programs.• Assist in development of case studies and award submissions.• Manage group dynamics between Associate(s) and/or Sr. Associate(s).• Accurately, objectively and constructively evaluate performance of Associate(s) and/or Manager(s) via talent development process.• Foster an environment which encourages intelligent risk taking, innovation and creativity.• Advise and direct planning staff regarding strategic points-of-view.• Monitor quality control on daily workflow, overseeing the work of Associate(s)/Sr. Associate(s).• Keep abreast of current events, media trends and any target market industry trends that impact client business.• Demonstrate a desire to create improvement and better outcomes through innovation / approaching things in new ways.• Think of new solutions to your work / client challenges.
Qualifications
• 3-5 years of account planning or related media/communications planning experience, with focus on team leadership and management.• Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration, and/or communications preferred.• Experience and comfort facilitating ideation sessions.• Enthusiastic consumer of, and curiosity about pop culture and media.• Independent, efficient and prospers in fast paced environment.• Excellent strategic thinking.• Great written and oral communication skills.• Good client relationship skills, including experience interacting and presenting to clients.• Experience of working in and across multiple communications disciplines, with emphasis on local tv, local radio, local print and OOH.• Excellent quantitative skills, including analytical abilities and math proficiency. Familiarity and comfort with utilizing Excel for budget tracking and building plans.• Demonstrate sharp, critical thinking and effective problem solving skills.• Ability to work within and effectively manage a team, prioritizing and organizing multiple assignments for both self and team direct reports, where applicable.• Comfortable with quick turnarounds for media plan delivery, and following established buying processes.• Extremely detail-oriented, with clear and proven organizational skills.• Show ability in training and leadership capability.• Exhibit passion through appropriate participation in team, agency, and industry initiatives.• Demonstrate genuine curiosity and interest in our clients & their business.• Specific proficiency at Excel, including formulas such as indexmatch and vlookups.• Comfortable with, and have understanding of, Prisma and digital trafficking process.• Experience with MediaTools is preferred.
