The IVF Nurse works collaboratively within the Nursing Department and with the total program to provide timely, proficient, patient-centered services for all patients, supporting physicians’ treatment plan. Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members providing physical and psychological support to patients.
This is a full time opportunity working Monday - Friday 7:30-4:30pm in our Jupiter, FL office.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Counsel patients through fertility treatment after consultation with the physician and fertility team.
- Assists fertility team in assuring that all appropriate consents are sent to patient and are returned in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and develop care for assigned physicians’ In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Embryo Transfer (ET/FET), Egg Vitrification and Mock Cycle patients.
- Coordinate patient’s timeline, calendar and protocol. Will provide knowledgeable answers to patient’s questions regarding their cycle and calendar.
- Provide fertility education including but not limited to medication teaching, resources and diagnostic testing.
- Provide emotional/compassionate support to patients through their fertility journey.
- Responsible to ensure that all required labs/diagnostic testing is within designated time frame in accordance to FDA/CDC guidelines.
- Review Today’s Schedule in Artworks each day after physicians have reviewed and provided orders regarding ultrasound and lab tests. Will contact patient with appropriate instructions per physician’s direction.
- Perform routine patient assessment as necessary (i.e., height weight, vital signs).
- Responsible for detailed and accurate documentation in each patient’s chart in Artworks.
- Review patient’s chart to identify potential medical problems which require evaluation prior to proceeding with fertility treatment.
- Perform phlebotomy, cultures and intrauterine inseminations.
- Responsible to triage phone calls/portal messages received from the IVF/FET nurse line and/or portal and provide instructions per patient’s treatment plan.
- Will develop OR schedule in coordination with the OR and embryology departments on designated monitoring days and as needed. Will call patients’ with their pre-op instructions.
- Responsible to follow up post treatment/post procedure to assess for any additional needs or emergent signs/symptoms for immediate evaluation.
- Responsible for continued monitoring of established pregnancies with physician direction during the first 10-12 weeks of gestation.
- Assure that all required documentation is completed for SART data reporting.
- Serve as clinical point person on a rational basis in support of Clinical Nurse Manager in overseeing the daily clinical operations.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations and calling for assistance from other health care support personnel when appropriate.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to HIPPA, infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Operates specialty equipment per manufacturer’s recommendations and/or policy and procedure.
