We are looking for a full-time Surgical Center/IVF Manager position for our River North, Chicago surgery center.
The Surgical Center/IVF Manager at Fertility Centers of Illinois is responsible for directing surgical and IVF nursing care within the surgical suite and recovery area for patients undergoing assisted reproductive procedures and surgical procedures.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Monitors monthly expenses and forecasts when expenses will vary significantly from budget.
- Anticipates equipment and growth needs and submits Capital Budget requests in conjunction with the annual budgeting process.
- Manage clinical aspects of new and existing programs related to the IVF department and assures smooth daily departmental operations.
- IVF department upkeep, coordinates repairs and maintenance to assure prompt resolution of issues.
- Responsible for assuring availability of supplies and equipment necessary to deliver quality patient care.
- Facilitate IVF meeting and will be on call as needed.
- Acts as a liaison with physicians, nursing staff and, sonographers ensuring cases are scheduled appropriately, adequate staff is available, and Anesthesia is informed of cases.
- Maintains records for: Patient Log, Narcotic Log, Drug Outdates, Crash Cart Log, Doctor’s Preference Cards, Autoclave Sterilization Log and refrigerator logs.
- Assures compliance with AAAHC and other regulatory standards for surgical services.
- Acts as a liaison with Anesthesiologist regarding drugs, changes, new drugs and equipment.
- Provides in-service for new equipment or techniques to staff.
- Ensures prescribed Code Blue, Malignant Hypothermia drills take place in the prescribed frequency.
- Understands and articulates process for policy and procedure initiation and review, following through on revisions in a timely manner.
- Monitors compliance with established practice and Corporate SOPs & HIPAA OSHA/BBP Standards.
- Understands and monitors compliance with applicable Accreditation Standards, namely AAAHC.
- Maintains knowledge of healthcare regulations and assists with education about and implementation of new regulations as needed.
- Assures compliance with Regulatory Standards.
- Practices in accordance with applicable Practice Acts as described in the Illinois Code of Regulations.
- Stays up to date on infection control issues relative to the practice.
- Educates staff regarding infection control practices.
- Ensures appropriate tools available to allow staff to adhere to infection control SOP’s
- Updates and disseminates SOP’s as necessary.
- Directs nursing care within the surgical suite.
- Assures staffing coverage in accordance with staffing plan.
- Approves requests for time off in accordance with staffing plan and applicable organizational policies.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to properly interview, hire and onboard employees within the IVF department. Initiate appropriate resolutions regarding any employee issues/progressive discipline.
- Train and develop staff in clinical or administrative issues as identified by the staff or practice.
