What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Merchant position at US Toy?
The Associate Merchant is primarily responsible for the management of daily business operations and supporting the team to meet the goals of the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for refining and executing promotional plans including direct mail, digital, social, and in-store marketing.
- Determine impacts of pricing, various promotions, store placement, off-shelf merchandising, and new product launches as it relates to the product category performance.
- Manages daily correspondence with vendors including project management, sample ordering, and communicating concerns.
- Assists in proofing product copy, catalog layouts, and website for launches.
- Develops understanding of building competitive merchandise assortment aligned with our customer needs and brand positioning.
- Performs sales, margin, ROI analysis reporting for the overall category and sub-categories.
- Ownership of new item set up, gathering accurate product information, and price changes.
- Becomes knowledgeable about market trends and competitor's products; could attend domestic trade shows, as applicable.
- Willingness to grow and understand product development, sourcing, packaging design and quality.
- Research and understand customer and market trends as it relates to optimizing category performance to make strategic business recommendations.
- Assist Merchant in the roll out of new programs.
- Develop, analyze, and draw conclusions and make recommendations to management team for process improvement opportunities, ideas to increase sales, and other ways to improve the business and organization.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3 years merchandising experience within the Early Education sector with demonstrable success.
- Ability to manage programs, processes, and projects with minimal direction.
- Extremely detail-oriented and organized.
- Shows leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work as a team.
- Exercise judgment to prioritize and communicate to meet and exceed project deadlines and commitments.
- Identify critical tasks and makes decisions on appropriate prioritization.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Comfortable presenting to business leaders and management.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel very occasionally, domestically and overseas

Pay: $41,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
