Facilities Engineer, Senior or Staff

Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide technical expertise to support the maintenance and engineering lifecycle of a manufacturing facility and the associated utilities. The position is responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving & updating equipment systems and related processes. The candidate will perform in the capacity of equipment system steward; being both responsible and accountable for the system’s continued function and reliability. Position Responsibilities: · Maintain building management system (BMS) compliance with Illumina SOPs and current industry requirements. Programming and graphic design support for BMS upgrades desired. · Maintain environmental monitoring system (EMS) compliance with Illumina SOPs and current industry requirements. · Understand and operate compliantly within company Quality Management System · Facilitate the generation of design specifications as well as other engineering-related documentation to support facility / utility qualifications and commissioning · Develop and implement system, facility, and production improvements in alignment with End User and strategic needs · Assist in Development of preventive maintenance procedures and reliability-based activities · Provide leadership and direction to other facility team members to ensure all team goals and objectives are achieved · Supervision of contractors as required · Deep level of understanding and practical experience with FDA cGMP regulations and requirements for facilities and utilities for medical device manufacturing. · Establish and maintain cross functional relationships with manufacturing, engineering, quality control, development and regulatory for validation optimization and support of a successful facility validation program. Education and Experience: · Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, construction management from accredited college or university or equivalent work experience · Minimum of 4 years of experience required in the corporate environment; pharmaceutical, medical or medical device experience industry is preferred · Experience in clean rooms, RODI, HVAC, building and environmental management systems used to support a regulated manufacturing environment · Experience with walk-in cold storage units which contain business-critical materials · Experience working cross-functionally to develop technical requirements · Experience with designing, engineering, building, commissioning, and validating facilities Listed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position.
