We have an exciting opportunity to join us in supporting one of our valued customers as an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Avionics Technician) to work out of Ft. Eustis, VA.

Essential Duties:

  • Primarily responsible for the maintenance functions on unmanned
  • Primarily responsible for the maintenance functions on unmanned aerial vehicles to keep the aircraft ready to fly and ensure their ability to collect and transmit information.
  • Assemble, install, inspect, test, troubleshoot and repair avionics components and wiring on a fleet of small experimental unmanned aircraft.
  • Fabricate, install, and maintain aircraft instrumentation systems / subsystems and wiring harnesses to include soldering, cable fabrication, and plug and connector installation in accordance with schematics, interface control documents, and other information according to the maturity of the systems being supported.
  • Interpret and implement engineering drawings and electrical schematics
  • Use common powered and non-powered hand tools and electronic test equipment
  • Travel to support flight tests and provide test site repair and modification
  • Assist team members with carrying and transporting equipment if requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and familiarity with SAE AS50881, “Wiring, Aerospace Vehicle”
  • FAA instrumentation license or equivalent cert in the field AND FAA Part 107 cert (remote pilot cert with small UAS rating).
  • Previous flight test aircraft experience.
  • Aircraft navigation, camera, radio, data-bus experience.
  • Programming experience in Python and C .
  • 3 years of experience with electronic assembly, aircraft install, troubleshooting, modification and rewire of avionics/electrical systems.
  • Commercial drone experience is okay.

Education/ Certification: Highschool Diploma or equivalent

Required Clearance: Secret

Travel: 50%
