What are the responsibilities and job description for the RAPTOR Fellow position at USNC?
DESCRIPTION:
USNC is looking for a student to join the Advanced Technologies division in Seattle, WA. This fellow will be aiding the integrated
modeling group to work on RAPTOR. RAPTOR is a nuclear reactor modeling and simulation tool to help engineers design safer,
more efficient nuclear power and propulsion systems faster.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produce models for nuclear power systems, primarily the MHTGR 350 reactor, in RAPTOR.
- Simulate, evaluate, and compare the results from RAPTOR to published solutions.
- Understand and mitigate discrepancies between the RAPTOR solution and published solutions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be currently enrolled at an accredited university in a bachelors, masters, or Ph.D. program in nuclear engineering or
related field. - Must be able to work fulltime for a minimum of 10 weeks from May to August.
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:
- Experience with python and the Serpent Monte Carlo code.
TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS: Minimal travel (<10%)

To confirm to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
