Epic Beaker LIS/Blood Bank LIS Manager

Job Summary:

Reporting to the UT Health San Antonio EpicCare Inpatient Director, the Epic Beaker Laboratory Information System (LIS)/Blood Bank LIS Manager will help lead the implementation, build, configuration, test, maintenance and support of the Epic Beaker clinical/anatomic LIS and the blood bank LIS. UT Health San Antonio will be transitioning from Orchard Harvest to Epic Beaker and a blook banking system as we expand our Ambulatory environment and open the Multispecialty and Research Hospital (MSRH). The Epic Beaker LIS/Blood Bank LIS Manager will have a track record of successfully leading a team in the build, configuration and support of Epic Beaker and blood bank software.

Job Duties:

• Lead the analyst team for the implementation, configuration, testing and maintenance of Epic Beaker clinical/anatomic path and blood back software.
• Recruit, build and supervise a team of associate, intermediate and senior Beaker analysts to ensure on time and on budget work-products that meet the highest quality and standards.
• Work collaboratively with members of the lab team to ensure workflow, device integration, testing, validation, and Beaker functionality meeting specifications.
• Work with clinical teams to ensure Epic Beaker and blood bank software meeting specifications.
• Ensure a cross-trained team that collaborates and partners with the EpicCare ambulatory and inpatient teams.
• Remain keenly focused on teambuilding, motivation, process improvement, strengthening morale, and career enhancement for subordinates. Developing and retaining strong contributors will be key.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, business or related field
• Certifications in Epic Beaker.

Experience:

• Five (5) years of directly related experience and increasing responsibility.
• Two (2) years supervisory or management role within a health system lab environment.
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of optimal technology management concepts, practices, and policies consistently and effectively applied within complex rapidly expanding enterprises. Sound decision-making with the ability to think clearly, strategically, and deliver excellent operational, management, and leadership judgment.
• Ability to transparently lead a diverse team and foster a collaborative and collegial working environment.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills, executive presence, and a good listener. Strong customer-service orientation.
• Experience multiple full-cycle implementations of Epic Beaker and blood bank software.
• Experience with lab device integration, third party integration and middleware.
• Knowledge of lab workflows.
• Knowledge of lab outreach process and the implementation of lab outreach with Epic.
