What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Adult Neurologist – Epilepsy in Dallas, TX position at UT Southwestern Medical Center?

 

The Department of Neurology (ranked #18 for neurology and neurosurgery) is seeking an academic Epileptologist for adults. UT Southwestern Medical Center has been named the #1 hospital in Texas (*tie) and among the best in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report.  

Opportunity Details:

·         Join a vibrant and growing group of 11 adult epileptologist faculty and 7 dedicated epilepsy APPs, plus 6 additional pediatric epilepsy faculty. We are one of the country’s largest teams.

·          Practice at two separate (but nearby) Adult Level 4 Epilepsy Centers (designated by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers), each with 12 dedicated EMU beds and enhanced ICU EEG monitoring infrastructure with dedicated in-house EEG technicians 24x7x365

·           Be part of our vigorous multi-disciplinary team against epilepsy—which includes dedicated partners in neurosurgery, neuroradiology, neuropsychology, rehabilitation cognitive psychology, and psychiatry.

·          Participate in a large volume of complex intractable epilepsy evaluations, including >50 combined annual adult intracranial evaluations.

·          Collaborate with pediatric epileptologists to support the transition of pediatric patients with complex epilepsy syndromes into adult care.

·         Contribute to breakthroughs in epilepsy research alongside industry and NIH-funded faculty.

·         Access cutting-edge technology-- including MEG, sEEG, and treatment options such as RNS, DBS, & laser ablation and immunotherapy

·          Teach and mentor trainees in our ACGME-accredited fellowship & programs – with an aggregate annual potential complement of 8 adult fellows.

·         Grow your academic career with our robust Faculty Development program, housed within our larger department of 90 neurology faculty across 14 subspecialty sections.

·         Be a part of the Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute, a rapidly expanding enterprise supporting clinical, educational, research, and outreach efforts.  

·         Full-time ambulatory clinical effort is considered 46 weeks.  

 

Qualifications:

·         Possess or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas.

·         Completed a 2-year fellowship in epilepsy/clinical neurophysiology, with proficiency both in ICU Long-term EEG monitoring and the evaluation & treatment of intractable epilepsy in adults.

·          Board certified/board eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for adult or child neurology with subspecialty qualifications in and Epilepsy and/or Clinical Neurophysiology.
