The Utah Jazz are looking for a digital content writer to join our team. This position will be responsible for manning the beat, covering the Jazz from an internal perspective. The ideal candidate will be comfortable executing a range of articles from gamers, features and social reaction to brand-focused pieces. This role is for a great writer who can work alongside the Sr. Director of Content to keep a pulse on storylines, establish relationships with internal groups like PR and Communications while effectively telling the story of an NBA season to a very engaged fanbase.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Proactively pitch and write feature stories on the Jazz, arena and other Smith Entertainment properties
- Work alongside other content talent and team members to “repackage” content for a various digital channels and platforms
- Manage content publishing strategy for UtahJazz.com
- Make recommendations around accompanying multi-media content for feature stories
- Work closely with Jazz public relations and communications teams to bring the best stories to light
- Maintain relationships with players, coaches and front office members by attending
- practices and games
- Have an eye for both creative, fan-focused content while also being capable of thoughtful longform features
- Keep fans—and potential fans—interested and entertained through a unique point of view
- Be available to travel to cover tentpole events over the course of the season
- Curate user-generated content and incorporate that content into articles as appropriate
- Work with the entire content team to maintain a content team publishing calendar
- On-camera experience is not required, but a bonus since we work cross functionally with our broadcast group on regular live opportunities (pregame live stream, Social Saturday broadcast pregame, etc.)
- Maintain the integrity of the Utah Jazz and the Smith Entertainment organization

- Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, communications, English or similar program (or

- 3-5 years of sports writing experience required (please include a link to your portfolio)
- Experience interviewing public figures required
- Social media savvy
- Demonstrated experience with online publishing tools (drupal, wordpress, etc)
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in both business and basketball operations

- Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays
