What are the responsibilities and job description for the DXA / Xray Tech position at UTAH ORTHOPAEDICS LLC?
Part Time Position Available. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Main job duty will be DXA Scan. Must be Willing to learn and be trained to do "Dual Energy X-ray absorptiometry" (aka DEXA) scanning while on the job. DXA experience highly preferred, we're willing to train the right person.
- Provides quality radiographs utilizing the selection of appropriate technical factors. Consistently maintains a reject analysis rate below or equal to the national average.
- Uses radiographic equipment as instructed during orientation. Reports any equipment issues to office manager as they arise.
- Patient communication and preparation including removal of garments or jewelry that may interfere with procedure and explaining how the process works.
- Positioning patients properly to obtain x-rays and/or DXA Scan
- Setting the equipment to obtain the best density, detail, and contrast of the area being imaged.
- Taking preventative steps to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation.
- Applying your knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the process in order to help the physician diagnose problems.
- Must be able to closely follow physician instructions, prepare radiography equipment, position patients, and obtain optimal images for diagnosis.
- Must be able to communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with all different types of patients including the elderly, ailing, and handicapped.
- Assures a clean, stocked work area by maintaining examination rooms, workstations and break areas.
- Make all effort to keep physician on schedule with patients.
- Verifies studies into PACs system.
