Position Details The Department of Theatre and Dance within the College of Arts and Letters at The University of Tampa is seeking a candidate for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Dance, to begin Fall 2023. The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa's dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. The successful candidate will have an MFA or Ph.D. in Dance or Dance Education with a minimum of three years college-level teaching experience. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to brain-compatible dance education and its application to brain-compatible teaching methods. The department offers a BA in Theater, a BFA in Musical Theater, and a BA in Dance, with a focus on teaching preparation. Teaching responsibilities in the Dance discipline include, but may not be limited to, courses in at least two dance techniques, dance history, dance in world cultures, and ability to teach at least one of the following: dance anatomy, kinesiology and injury prevention; dance composition and choreography; pedagogy; and dance production. The candidate will have opportunities to choreograph for various dance productions offered as part of the performance season.
