Key Accountabilities:
- Financial Record Management: Manage and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and standards.
- Auditing and Reporting: Conduct regular audits and prepare financial reports, providing insights into the financial status of the casino. Assist and inform compliance reports as necessary.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation and management of annual budgets and financial forecasts, aligning with the Ute Mountain Casino Hotel's financial goals.
- Reconciliation: Manage and reconcile monthly deletions and additions to fixed assets.
- Payroll: Conduct assistance and audits regarding payroll activities. Work alongside the payroll department to ensure accurate and timely compensatory payments are completed.
- Compliance and Regulations: Ensure adherence to financial regulations and standards, including tribal, state, and federal laws.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, provide recommendations, and support strategic decisions.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with various departments to understand financial needs and provide support as necessary.
- Accounting Software: Basic understanding of common accounting software, such as Microsoft Great Plains and NetSuite. If no experience, possess the ability and acumen to learn new software models as needed.
Qualifications:General:
- Must be at least 21 years old to obtain a UMUGC Key License (required).
- Must be able to pass the UMUGC and CG background investigations (no financial crimes or other felonies).
- Must possess (or must be working towards) a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA or other relevant certifications are preferred but not required. A candidate "working towards" a CPA with at least level accounting classes completed would be preferred.
- This is an entry-level accounting position, therefore the candidate must demonstrate an accounting background using experience or education.
- The ideal candidate will have 2-4 year of combined experience/education in accounting or a closely related field. Gaming or tribal experience is preferred.
- *Experience may be used as a substitute for education in some cases.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: [KSAs]Knowledge:
- Possesses a background and theoretical understanding of GAAP accounting principles (e.g., regularity, consistency, sincerity, etc.)

- General understanding of the gaming industry (e.g., Title 31, gaming financial regulations, etc.)
Skills:
- Accounting skill in all related activities.
- Skilled in communication and collaboration with other departments as it pertains to finance and accounting.
- Skilled in organization, prioritization, and attention to detail as it pertains to common accounting forms and other deliverables.
- Skilled in Microsoft Suite, with intermediate level understanding of Microsoft Excel.
