What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiber Splicer position at UtilitiesOne?
We are looking for a local Fiber Splicer in Sarasota, FL to work NIGHT SHIFTS.
As a Fiber Splicer, you will use your skills and best practices to splice, connect, repair, and maintain existing fiber cables for delivering telecommunications services.
Responsibilities:
- Install and splice fiber optic cables including both, loose tube and ribbon cables;
- Construct proper splice case, including but not limited to grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, and sealing;
- Safely operate and use a bucket truck to complete daily construction (splicing) assignments as needed (potentially climb poles) in a timely, effective, and safe manner;
- Perform OTDR & Power Meter Testing;
- Complete daily production reports to document performed activities and track daily materials;
- Complete daily inspections and reporting of maintenance issues on assigned vehicles, trailers, and equipment (test sets, hand tools, and other assets);
- Perform other splicing-related duties as assigned.
- A minimum of 2 years of Fiber Optic Splicing experience;
- Ability to work night shifts up to 6 days a week; (Sunday-Friday)
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve job-related problems;
- A valid, unrestricted Driver's License is a must;
- Ability to travel to different job sites in the region.
