Our Shop Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of our technicians and shop help personnel. We're looking for individuals with a base knowledge of the tractor-trailer industry that have some previous experience in management. What it takes - JOB RESONSIBILITES
- Lead, manage, and hold accountable all technicians and shop help. This will require effective communication and the ability to teach, train, and motivate all shop employees, as well as leading technician meetings.
- Manage shop, tool, and employee expenses.
- Oversee scheduled maintenance and repair work of fleet trailers and internal units. This will also include dry van package trailers, dollies and yard switchers.
- Maintain a clean and organized department. This includes organizing and delegating out cleaning and maintenance responsibilities to technicians and other staff members.
- Perform all service-writing tasks for contracted service work including preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and the repair internal and external units, brakes, suspension components, electrical systems, trailer body parts, and others. This will require the ability to source and order parts, communicate with our fleet customer and technicians, and close work orders.
- Perform other duties, as assigned by direct report. These may include attending meetings, parts inventory, organizing the shop and parts warehouse, performing general maintenance, etc.
- Actively participate in weekly, quarterly, and annual leadership meetings with the goal of helping other department leaders, and the company, improve. This includes offering regular suggestions on methods and practices for business improvement when experience and common-sense dictates.
What you need - JOB REQUIRMENTS:
- 3 years of shop experience preferred
- 1-3 years of management experience
- Previous experience the in the heavy-duty tractor-trailer industry
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Promotes and maintains a positive, team-oriented, and customer-focused attitude within department
- Must be able to demonstrate positive resourcefulness & versatility in a fast-paced, always changing, environment
- Must be willing to listen and follow directions/advisement from leadership team
- Understands the importance of safety in the work environment
