What are the responsibilities and job description for the EEG Technician - Advanced (wage, PRN) position at UVA Medical Center?

Responsible for performing patient assessment preparation and monitoring for electrodiagnostic procedures using independent professional judgment. Operates maintains and troubleshoots associated medical devices/equipment. Member of the healthcare team functioning in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit various ICU settings EEG Lab or EMG Lab. Ascertains patient procedural specifications. Prepares patient. Performs baseline studies and monitors patient status. Prepares monitors and troubleshoots procedure equipment. Communicates with healthcare team including surgeons neurologists anesthesiologists nurses and other unit personnel. Maintains proper inventories and correctly uses supplies and reagents. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Position Compensation Range: $23.76 - $38.02 Hourly MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s of Science Degree preferred. Experience: 2 years of prior EMG/EEG technical experience Licensure: Registered as an Electrodiagnostic Technician by the American Board of Registered Electrodiagnostic Technicians (ABRET) or as an Intraoperative Monitoring Technician by the Neuro Intraoperative Monitoring Technicians Society required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods and frequently bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 – 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, fumes, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
