Valera Health is seeking a 100% Remote Medical Assistant for our virtual practice who provides administrative expertise to support our provider team and ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care. Be part of a compassionate care team dedicated to elevating mental health care.
Responsibilities of the Medical Assistant:
- Support providers with patient phone calls, messages, and VH platform outreach
- Follow-up on no show appointments and assist with rescheduling
- Assist with contacting patient if the provider is out due to sickness/ emergency
- Support discharge/re-engagement
- Prior authorizations for prescription medications
- ROI, MRR, FMLA, misc paperwork
- Facilitate internal referrals : therapy, medication management
- Support pt after prescriber visit with labs or EKG orders, as necessary; obtaining results
- Authorize routine prescription refills based on specific protocols from Medical Director
- Coordinate clinical huddles
- Quality checks for QA measures
- Administer screening tools, as necessary (PHQ9, GAD7, Tobacco, Alcohol, Substance Use)
- Conduct SoDH screening, as necessary (social needs screening from AAFP)
- Utilize software program or local resources to provide information/referral to PCPs, community resources or higher level of psychiatric care for the identified patients to ensure the patients’ social/environmental needs are probably met; continuum of care arrangements as needed

Qualifications Medical Assistant:
- Two years of experience in a mental health practice setting is strongly preferred
- Associate degree required
- Valid LPN/LVN Licensure
- Bilingual in Spanish or Chinese preferred
- Ability to interface with providers and company-wide leadership teams
- Comfort with working from home on a remote team
- Self-starter, proactive attitude
- Experience working within an EMR
