Associate Business Intelligence Analyst

Valero is looking for an Associate Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team at the San Antonio Headquarters. The Associate Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for data extraction, economic analysis, and report development for the Marketing & Supply organization across all aspects of the business, including crude and product supply, marine and rail operations, chartering and barge fleet performance, wholesale marketing, etc. The Associate Business Intelligence Analyst role focuses on solving problems by applying quantitative analysis to large, diverse data elements to improve supply chain performance and commercial profitability.

Daily Associate Business Intelligence Analyst duties may include:

• Applies Microsoft Power BI or Tableau skills to large data sets extracted from diverse system solutions.
• Develops, maintains, and publishes regular reporting of metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Business Unit Report (BUR) deliverables to senior management.
• Collaborates with information systems team to implement enhancements.
• Use data visualization to solve supply chain optimization or commercial profitability opportunities.
• Runs existing reports and modifying/creates new reports.
• Participates in the development of selected projects, coordinates with internal groups including Refining Operations, Crude Supply & Trading, Product Supply & Trading, Planning & Economics, and Strategic Development & Technology.
• Facilitates process improvement initiatives that reduce supply chain costs across the commercial floor.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

• Bachelor’s or higher level degree - in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems or related field required.
• No experience required.
• Advanced MS Excel experience required.
• Big Data Analytics preferred.
• Developer knowledge and experience with VBA, python, R languages preferred.
• Knowledge in programing MS Access or relational databases preferred.
• Strong user skills for MS Power BI or Tableau preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with SAP-TSW and BOBJ Reporting preferred.
• Must be able to work in a collaborative, on-site work environment, which will include participation in unscheduled discussions and troubleshooting on an as needed basis.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
