What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trade's Helper position at Valiant Integrated Services?

Assists with general maintenance and repair of equipment and building requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Assisting trades with replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures and motors.
  • Assisting trades with using plaster or compounds to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Assists trades with repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Assists trades with painting structures and equipment.
  • Assists trades with repairing or replacing concreate floors, steps and sidewalks.
  • Replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Assists trades with hanging doors and installing door locks.
  • Assists trades with replacing broken window panes and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Coordinating with the Project Manager and trade supervisors on a jobsite.
  • Directly communicate with management, teammates and customers in the form of meetings, face-to-face or written communications.
  • Assists trades with troubleshooting equipment, performing project take-off's and solicits quotations in support of procurement process.
  • Executes scheduled and unscheduled tasks in timely manner with a strong focus on quality / customer service.
  • He/she will have the ability to communicate basic equipment repair.
  • Will work closely with trade supervisors ensuring all records and documentation are kept up-to-date.
  • Will assist trades with responding to mechanical system emergencies, determining the issue and making a repair.
  • Will assist with performing regular maintenance of mechanical systems to prevent emergencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service/satisfaction.

  • Has a high school degree, HS/GED equivalent, applicable Trade Certifications, etc.
  • Must have fundamental understanding of current codes and standard trade practices.
  • Should present fundamental understanding of maintenance, troubleshooting and repair principles.
  • Working knowledge in the following areas at a minimum: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, etc.
  • Working knowledge of various trade hand tools, power tools, and all other applicable trade tools.
  • Working knowledge of building layouts, etc.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure with minimal supervision.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Laboratories or Medical Facilities.
  • Up to 2 years of experience is preferred.
  • Up to 2 years of technical training or apprenticeship program is desirable.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a sitting position for 8 or more hours per day
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Must be able to travel to / from job location by automobile (personal vehicle).
  • Must be able to pass a basic level physical.
  • Must be able to pass a basic federal background check.
