The Operations Manager is an entry level leadership position that is responsible for working with the Terminal Manager and assisting with the overall operation of the Service Center Terminal including the yard and warehouse operation, trucking operations. Specifically, the Operations Manager responsibilities are:
Responsibilities under the direction of the Terminal Manager:
- Loading of customer orders at the warehouse in a timely fashion
- Accuracy and completeness of all paperwork related to customer orders
- Compliance with all OSHA, DOT and other governmental agencies’ rules and regulations by all terminal personnel and operators
- A safe work environment for all personnel working at the terminal
- Safety performance of all terminal personnel
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures
- Compliance with all customers’ requirements
- Optimization of operation to reduce cost (overtime) and maximize productivity
- Management reports, various, daily, weekly and monthly
- On time delivery of all customers’ orders
- Upkeep and maintenance of all company equipment such as trailers, transfer hoses, forklifts, etc.
- Resolution of all customer issues
- Hands on individual required
- Implementation of the company’s disciplinary policies
- Must be willing to obtain experience with inbound/outbound P&D and Linehaul
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- 2 years of management experience, people skills, computer knowledge, self-motivated, and ability to achieve assigned goals with minimal supervision
- Must have LTL experience
- High School Diploma Required, College degree preferred
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Pre-employment drug and physical test
- English language including the meaning and spelling of words and proper grammar.
- Speak clearly and communicate with others and convey information effectively
- Interpret a variety of instructions; written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Must be forklift certified per OSHA regulations
- Perform operation and safety check including battery, breaks, lift controls, fluids, and fire extinguisher prior to using equipment
- Sign off on daily equipment check list certifying everything is in good operating condition
- Proper handling of hazardous materials as it pertains to bills of lading, freight bills, placarding, employee training and accidents

WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing duties of this job the employee will regularly be exposed to outside weather conditions. This also means the employee is regularly required to drive in all sorts of weather. The employee is required to drive tractors with and without air conditioning. The employee is required to travel in busy and congested roads and highways. The employee is also subjected to noise and to being around tractors, trailers, and forklifts as well as various other material moving machines.
