The Vanguard School has an immediate opening for a Behavior Support Specialist to join our team!
Our Behavior Support Specialists work directly with our students supporting them as needed, acting as positive role models, and providing incentives and rewards for good behavior through the school-wide Positive Behavior Support (PBS) program. The team supports our classroom teachers and aides by carrying out behavioral goals identified in each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and maintaining data on IEP goals. With proficient safety care skills, they also lead our safety care training program for staff members. The Behavior Support Specialist supports staff and students by providing a consistent presence in classrooms and common areas during transition, lunch, recess and bus arrival and dismissal. Responds to crises in a timely manner, supports the Positive Behavior Support Program, implements strategies identified in students' Positive Behavior Support Plans, and collects behavior data for subsequent analysis. This is a full-time, School Year position with an option to work during the 5-week summer ESY program. Benefits include: paid health and dental insurance, paid sick and personal time, tuition reimbursement, and retirement plan contributions.

Minimum Qualifications 1. Training in Special Education, Psychology or a related field; Bachelor's or Master's degree in behavioral health field preferred. 2. PA teacher certification in special education and/or secondary guidance counseling preferred. 3. Familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA) and positive behavior support; formal training in Safety Care™ or other crisis prevention techniques preferred. 4. Two years' experience working in behavioral health field providing direct services to students on the autistic spectrum and/or with emotional disorders. 5. Ability to engage intellectually and physically with students in need of crisis intervention. 6. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all constituents (administrators, colleagues, students, parents, and others). 7. Knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary. 8. Ability to use computers and perform clerical skills at a proficient level.
