Position SummaryVFES has an immediate opening for a customer service oriented person to join our Technology team and provide technical support to the entire VFES organization. We seek applicants with in-depth technical knowledge and solutions for both hardware and software problems. This position will also be responsible for network account management, workstation hardware and operating systems, and software applications (local, virtual, cloud).
This job is demanding physically, requiring the ability to bend, lift, crouch, kneel, and walk in order to perform essential duties. While this position must focus on end-user’s needs and providing solutions, it must also be focused on staff relationships and the development of trust. It is necessary that the person who fills this position be able to work independently, be highly organized, and be detailed oriented.
This is a full-time, 12 month position with paid health and dental insurance, paid holidays, sick, personal and vacation time, and a 9% employer contribution to our retirement plan. Tuition reimbursement for related college courses is also available.
Position Requirements
- High School diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of three years’ experience supporting PC hardware and software in an educational setting, K-12 experience is preferred.
- Field experience supporting end-users in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and Windows applications; knowledge of Active Directory and current Windows Operating Systems.
- Intermediate knowledge of network switches and networking protocols.
- Ability to install, configure, troubleshoot and support Windows clients.
- High level of analytical thinking to solve problems with an understanding of technology as well as an ability to ask the right questions and apply solutions.
- Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities.
- Ability to engage intellectually and physically in all components of the work process.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all constituents (administrators, colleagues, students, parents, and others).
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Have and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and a safe driving record.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Supports staff and students with technology related issues in a responsive and service oriented matter including, but not limited to: PC/laptop/printer issues, software support, AV set-ups, and other support ticket issues.
- Installs, supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots software and hardware problems related to Windows-based devices and Apple iPads.
- Develops and maintains workstation and laptop images.
- Effectively resolves technical issues and educates the user by transferring knowledge in a helpful, professional manner.
- Logs, prioritizes, and responds to all help requests received from staff.
- Assumes responsibility for inventory and technology hardware status.
- Assists with implementing training sessions and technical documentation.
- Actively works with the technology support team to diagnose and resolve software and hardware problems.
- Monitors back-up jobs to ensure proper operation of all backup services.
- Administers network accounts, including assigning usernames and passwords; managing Active Directory User Groups, Security Groups, and access controls.
- Assists with maintaining the telephone system.
- Provides technical assistance on organization issues, services, program(s), and/or computer hardware and software, etc.

- Comply with all organizational policies and procedures including those stated in the VFES Policies & Procedures manual and additional verbal and written communications provided to staff members.
- Maintain a professional, confidential and ethical relationship with all constituents (administrators, colleagues, faculty, parents, students, and others).
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, leadership meetings, in-service activities, and other meetings as required.
- Maintains technology skills keeping current with industry trends and remains educationally informed in all related areas through continued professional study and attending workshops and conferences.
- Perform related duties, special assignments and projects as assigned.
