What are the responsibilities and job description for the Van Driver position at Valley Oaks?
This position requires professionalism due to the constant interaction with residents and families to guarantee their satisfaction. As the driver, this person will be assisting in planning transportation schedule to meet needs of residents. This person will also be responsible for basic maintaining of the company vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. It is imperative that this person maintains a clean work environment always. Running errands as needed and keeping documentation are also important functions to this position.
Qualifications:
- Requires organizational, decisive judgment, problem solving, communications, good customer service skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks, be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions as needed.
- Must be compassionate, caring, and patient towards residents and their families.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.
Physical Requirements
- Requires full range of body motion including handling of patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination.
- Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working with some exposure to communicable disease.
- Heavy work-exerting 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
Essential Functions:
- Transfers residents to or from beds, wheelchairs or stretchers, with assistance.
- Transports residents during discharge to the facility’s lobby and opens doors.
- Ensures proper oxygen levels in tanks before transporting resident.
- Approaches and offers assistance to residents and visitors in the nursing home environment.
- Communicates to nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians or reception regarding resident's arrival and departure.
- Verifies and confirms standard precautions and correct resident identification before taking action
