Position/Title: Worship Leader

Classification: Part-time Ministry Staff(min. 10 hours per week)

Campus/Department: McAllen / Worship

Reports Directly To: Campus Pastor

POSITION SUMMARY: The Worship Leader serves to provide excellent and God honoring worship experiences. The role of the Worship Leader is to oversee the planning, together with the pastoral staff, of all worship services offered by their respective Valley Praise campus.

COMPENSATION: Salary – starting at $5,000 annually with a weekly stipend based on the number of worship services led ($30 per service). Compensation will be evaluated annually and becomes effective January 1st of each year. Rate increases will be based upon cost of living increases, work load increases, job performance, budget flexibility, and Resource Team approval.

· Detail Oriented: Organized and administrative; detail oriented and possesses problem solving skills.

· Motivated Visionary: Self-starter with an entrepreneurial work ethic and an eye on the future of ministry. Needs minimal supervision, and has the ability to perform all job duties in a timely and effective manner. Takes full responsibility for the health and growth of their ministry area.

· Team Player: Maintains a humble spirit and commitment to teamwork with other worship leaders, pastors, staff and church members. Flexibility to take on hours and new responsibilities as needed.

· Passion for Discipleship: Possesses a clear conviction that all God’s people are called to make disciples. Ability to assist others in assessing their gifts, talents and interests, and use tools to link them to ministry opportunities.

· Relational Leadership: A high capacity leader who has a genuine love for all people; as well as, is approachable, friendly and outgoing. Ability to recruit and develop new team members.

· Technologically Adept: Possesses strong technology skills and has the ability to learn and work with multiple platforms while considering new digital solutions for ongoing improvement.

· Strong communication skills: Able to accurately articulate ideas (written and oral) and communicate pleasantly and professionally with staff, lay leadership, the congregation, and the community.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The worship leader will plan worship, organize rehearsals, schedule team members, recruit new musicians, develop future worship leaders, and oversee that all aspects of the worship service are accounted for as well as constantly looking beyond the church walls for opportunities to get the worship ministry involved.
The Worship Leader will:

· Plan for worship services following the vision of the series, theme, and desired atmosphere

o Coordinate with the campus pastor and other pastoral staff

o Plan ahead so that team members will have time to practice before rehearsal

§ Rehearsals should be held no later than Saturday (Rehearsals are mandatory)

o Participate in sermon series planning when able.

o Collaborate at least once a month with Worship leaders from other campuses.

o Lead worship at your respective campus on Sunday mornings but maintain flexibility to lead worship at other Valley Praise campuses when needed.

· Oversee all aspects of the worship services. This includes:

o Uploading song sets onto ProPresenter during weekly rehearsal to ensure correctness

§ Slides and lyrics should be in order of how they will be sung.

o Print and disperse worship order at least 1 hour prior to service start times.

o Ensure that there is a sound person and computer person scheduled for all worship services.

· Intentionally recruit and implement new musicians/singers

o Maintain a clear and direct process for new people to join the team.

o Be creative on how to connect people into the life of the worship team (i.e. choirs, backup roles).

o Help the younger generations plug into the music ministry.

o Find ways to recruit people outside of our walls to join our team.

· Make yourself and the worship team available to other ministry areas.

· Plan and organize “outside the walls” events.

· Grow as a Worship Leader

o Look for trainings, books, podcasts that will help you grow as a worship leader.

o Be on the lookout for the “cutting edge” and what’s relevant, especially to those who are not a part of the church yet.

· Meet regularly with Campus Pastor outside of Sunday mornings.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Worship Leader will be involved with the whole life of the church:

· Serve at other Valley Praise Campuses as needed.

· Be engaged in our church and participate in its ministries and events.

· Be available to represent VP at community and special events.

· Operate as a team member, understanding that at times responsibilities will be shared with other VP Clergy and Staff.

The Worship Leader will maintain a healthy Spiritual life:

· Remain focused on their personal relationship with Christ.

· Participate in at least one Grow Group and or some discipline of actively growing in their discipleship per year.

· Be vigilant regarding the appropriateness of their Social Media presence.
