What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Valley Veterinary Care?
Summary:
The role of this individual is to help provide a clean and sanitary environment for patients and clients, inside the hospital and on the grounds of the facility. As well as to ensure the hospital is clean, tidy, that laundry is done, trash is taken out and that the general appearance is well-kept. No animal handling is required/will be involved in this position.
Essential Functions
• Keep facility in clean and orderly condition following strict disinfection/sterilization protocols and safety standards
• Cleaning and stocking restrooms.
• Attending to any accidents from any of our fury patients.
• Collecting and emptying all trash.
• Washing, drying, and folding loads of laundry.
• Mopping, sweeping, and dusting.
• Keep entire hospital, both inside and outside, clean throughout the day
• Stock housekeeping supplies as needed
• Cleaning restrooms multiple times per day
• Other duties as assigned
Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
Qualifications/Experience
• Previous experience in cleaning or other related fields
• Applicants with experience in a veterinary or animal setting are preferred
• Ability to work independently with little oversight
• Ability to manage physical workload
• Outstanding attendance and work ethic
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Comfort and ability to work around various animals, animal enclosures, etc. This includes exposure to possible allergens like animal dander, fur, etc.
• Able to lift 40 lbs.
• Flexible - must be able to work all shifts, including nights and weekends.
