CNC Machinist
Summary
The CNC Machinist position is required to set up and operate conventional, special purpose and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts with minimal supervision.Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathe or mill.
- Read OD / ID micrometer.
- Read dial calipers.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and set up requirements.
- Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as lathes, mills, jig borers, grinders and shapers.
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve input, or edit computerized machine control media.
- Starts and observes machine operatoin to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
- Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
- Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly.
- Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
- Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, equipment and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
- Works with production personnel, shop lead and others to resolve machining errors.
- Works to meet production schedule.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems; recommend changes or or modifications to promote efficiency and adaptability for set up and production processes.
- Troubleshoots machine alarms, errors and programs.
