Job Goals:
The Attendance officer is employed by the Van Buren Intermediate School District (VBISD). They will cover the 12 school public districts and VBISD. The attendance/truancy officer has the powers of a special deputy sheriff within the school districts while performing official duties and pursues cases of nonattendance which are reported to him or her by the proper authority. The attendance/truancy officer shall investigate each case of nonattendance and failure to comply with the compulsory school attendance section of the Revised School Code [MCL 380.1571- 380.1599].
Assist VBISD Emergency Management with CPR/1st Aid Classes, assigned training, drills, exercises and other duties assigned by emergency manager.
Qualifications:
Preference given to Current or previous Michigan Commission of Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) Certification.
Hold American Heart Association CPR Instructor credentials.
Hold completion certificates for NIMS100, 200, 300, 400 700 and 800.
** Note- If the applicant selected for the position does not currently hold the current certification requirements, they will have 12months from the date of hire to complete them.
Work Experience:
Preference given to current or previous Michigan Commission of Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) Certification. School employment experience preferred.
