Job Summary - Responsible for smoothing out, leveling, and finishing freshly poured concrete at job or construction sites. Or setting up the forms in which concrete is poured to create walkways, walls, pillars, and other structures. They introduce rebar or wire mesh to reinforce the material, using trowels and other tools to spread and smooth concrete, and mold expansion joins and edges.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full-Time position. 50 hours minimum with overtime every week. Normal schedule will be Monday-Friday, 7 AM- 5 PM, depending on work demands. Occasional Saturdays may be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow Quality and Safety Standards
- Smooth out concrete in segments to ensure the concrete poured is level
- Work on a crew of 3-8
- Arrange the concrete forms
- Spread concrete
- Rub cement in with sponge-rubber float or burlap
- Level it uses special blades, making sure all lumps and bubbles are smoothed over
- Use wood or plastic forms to shape the concrete and hold it until it is set
- Smooth high spots and fill depressions
- Make concrete beams, columns, and panels
- Wash away excess concrete
- Use machines that vibrate concrete to fill air pockets
- Use grooving and hand trowels to spread concrete
- Prepare the base and cut pavers
- Pour sand in as filler
- Successfully read and understand project drawings
- Ensure final Quality Appearance
- Keep boards picked up off the ground
- Stack and Clean Forms
- Load and Clean Tools
- Bend Over Nails
- Clean Job site and Pick Up Tools Daily
Qualifications
- Pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, driving record check, and E-Verify
- Authorized to work in the United states
- Concrete experience preferred but not required
