OVERVIEW
Van Law Firm is seeking a Law Clerk for our litigation department in
our (NV/WA) location. This motivated individual will be a crucial element in
handling a multitude of litigation processes from initial filing of the
complaint through discovery and trial. Law Clerks are instrumental in
supporting our attorneys in propelling cases into favorable outcomes for
the firm’s clients. This is an immediate hire for full-time position.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties for a Law Clerk will include:
- Assisting attorneys in the management of a litigation caseload of
at least 200 cases.
- Drafting of pleadings, correspondence, and notices to file with the
court, and/or the offices of the discovery commissioner,
arbitrator, or mediator.
- Researching case laws and court decisions
- Collecting, organizing, and summarizing information, documents,
reports, and evidence
- Assisting attorneys with drafting of discovery requests and
responses
- Analyzing legal documents, including orders, judgments, or
stipulations
- Preparing legal memorandums for attorneys
- Maintaining a calendar by entering and updating requirements,
court dates, meetings, and deadlines
- Assist with preparation for trial, mediation, or arbitration by
organizing exhibits, documents, trial binders, evidence, briefs,
and appendices.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Second year or above law school student, or a graduate with a J.D.
degree from accredited law school
- Minimum of 1 year experience working at a law firm
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a
positive, friendly, professional, and ethical disposition
- Proficient legal writing and research skills
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills and advance understanding of certain
productivity and case management software (i.e., Microsoft 365,
Google Workplace, etc.)
- Strong listening skills and ability to follow detailed instructions
- Great time management and organizational skills with attention to
detail
- Can work both independently and collaboratively on a team
- Must be able to pass a background check, show proof of eligibility
to work in the U.S. and of COVID-19 vaccination and booster.
- Hours and time commitment of 40 hours per week for fulltime, but
flexible schedule for part-time is also offered, and time off for
exams, moot court competitions, ABA duties, etc. is provided.
